Southern Yorke Peninsula,
Astrophotography Workshop
7-13 October 2026, 6 Nights
The Southern Yorke Peninsula gives us the conditions most night photographers search for, genuinely dark skies and powerful landscapes to match. This workshop is fully organised and all-inclusive, so you can arrive, settle in, and focus purely on creating.
Welcome to the Southern Yorke Peninsula, a remote and rugged stretch of coastline where isolation, stillness, and dark skies come together in a powerful way. This is a place of wind-shaped cliffs, historic lighthouses, salt lakes, shipwrecks, quiet country towns, and long nights under an expansive sky.
This six-night astrophotography workshop is built around creating intentional nightscape images in wild coastal environments. From secluded beaches and dramatic cliffs to jetties and remote headlands, we’ll work across a variety of foregrounds that allow the Milky Way to become part of the landscape rather than the sole subject.
October 7-13 places us right on the new moon, during one of Australia’s clearest seasons. As one Milky Way arch sets and the next begins to rise, we’ll have the rare opportunity to photograph both the winter Milky Way arch and the early summer arch, rich with emission nebulae. There is also always the quiet possibility of Aurora Australis on the southern horizon.
This workshop is technically focused, creatively grounded, and intentionally paced.
I’m Jason, your photography guide and host for this journey. This workshop is limited to a maximum 4:1 participant ratio, supported by two dedicated drivers and a local guide. This ensures plenty of space, flexibility, and one-on-one guidance during both shooting and editing sessions.
Whether you’re refining your workflow or pushing creatively into new territory, you’ll receive personal feedback and support every step of the way.

Hi, I’m Jason, your photographer and workshop guide.
My Southern Yorke Peninsula workshop is like no other. This isn’t just about taking photos of a beautiful location, it’s about discovery, creativity, and restoration.
On the Southern Yorke Peninsula, we’ll focus on photographing the Milky Way over rugged coastlines, historic lighthouses, salt lakes, and secluded beaches. You’ll learn how to compose and stitch panoramic Milky Way arches, along with advanced techniques like tracking and stacking to reduce noise and bring out fine detail in your nightscapes.
Beyond the technical skills, this workshop is designed to help you discover new perspectives, create with purpose, and restore your mind and spirit under the stars. I’ll guide you through every step, from setting up your gear to refining your compositions and reviewing your images.
More than just a workshop, this is a shared experience. You’ll be part of a small group of like-minded people who support and inspire each other, while spending meaningful time in wild, remote places.
When you join me on the Southern Yorke Peninsula, you’re not just signing up for a photo tour, you’re stepping into six nights of learning, exploration, and reflection that will stay with you long after we pack up our cameras.
While we can’t control the weather, I’ll always make sure your time is well spent, whether that means extra in-depth editing sessions or making the most of sunrise and sunset opportunities. No matter the conditions, we’ll maximise every moment of the experience.
Join me in South Yorke Peninsula for 6 unforgettable nights under the stars

In my experience of running workshops, it does not work to have a fixed schedule. Weather conditions can be unpredictable so I like to have a plan but have it flexible depending on the outdoor conditions. Below I’ve outlined what would be covered in the workshop.
If you have any questions about flights or arrival times, feel free to get in touch. We’re here to help make your journey as smooth as your long exposures.
